After returning to La Dogana and relaxing by the pool, a homemade Italian dinner awaits. Come and see what else La Dogana can offer you on this amazing retreat.

JOHN & LUCIA HOSTS

JOHN RYAN

John has been working at La Dogana for three years helping with our marketing, guided tours, and yoga retreats. Before John was at La Dogana, he had already lived in Italy for two years. John went to college at John Cabot University in Rome for his entire junior year. While in Rome, John met Lucia (owner of La Dogana) in a marketing class and they have been friends ever since.

After returning to Boston to finish his business degree, John got a job as a tour guide in Florence where he toured around European countries such as Spain, France, Germany, Prague, and many more. John has always had a passion for traveling and loves sharing the experiences with the people he meets along his travels.

John was born and raised in Massachusetts on the peninsula of Cape Cod. He then went to college in Boston with a focus in Marketing and Entrepreneurship.  Besides travel, food, and wine, John is a die hard Boston sports fan and would love to talk about any sport besides futbol/soccer for once.

OUR TWO RETREAT CENTERS

La Dogana has partnered with our next door neighbours, Montemelino Vineyards to allow more guests to experience the beauty of this unique region of Italy. With La Dogana and Montemelino being a stones throw away from one another and working in the same industries, a partnership was inevitable. With so much in common both locations bring you the same value and amenities to enjoy on your Italian getaway.

DOGANA

MONTEMELINO

>A family estate of the de Ferrari’s for generations, La Dogana’s 100 acre estate and olive grove is actually a national landmark in Italy and a popular wedding venue together with being an agricolture farm producing organic olive oil. With two villas containing over a dozen apartments, La Dogana has the capacity to room over 60 guests. La Dogana’s apartments each contain their own working kitchen, bathroom & shower, bedrooms, and a stunning view of the lake and hills of Italy everywhere you look.

A 30 meter pool atop La Dogana overlooks the Trasimeno lake and the Tuscan hills to help you cool off and relax. Our restaurant, Antica Dogana will be preparing delicious meals for you every morning and night. Our beautiful yoga studio can fit 20 guests comfortably with yet again a gorgeous view. There is also a free washing machine on site and bbq area.

Montemelino has been a vineyard and olive grove for generations in the Caterelli family. Montemelino is owned and operated by Sabina and Pier Caterelli who decided to leave the city life to fully focus on their family’s tradition of producing organic wines and olive oil. Montemelino has two tuscan style villas containing 7 apartments which can hold a maximum of 25 guests. The yoga studio can hold 15 guests comfortably and has a striking view. There is also a free washing machine on site.

Just like La Dogana, each apartment comes with its own working kitchen, bathrooms & showers, bedrooms, and some have a terrace. A salt water pool also overlooks the vineyard with stunning views of the rolling hills and lake Trasimeno, portraying the classic Italian charm. Breakfasts and dinners will be served by the Montemelino restaurant staff with their amazing home-made Italian cuisine that will make you feel like you have an Italian mother feeding you for the week.
