Our Super Todd!

From a host of various athletic activites and movement modalities, including various martial arts, calisthenics, gymnastics and acrobatics, I fell in love with the practice of yoga for its ability to ground me in the present moment, uniting my internal world with external experience.

 

I have led multiple international retreats, including three in various parts of Italy. On retreat with me everything is optional. There are plenty of included activities for you to relax, unwind, explore, taste, shop, and soak in. Classes will be geared for an All Levels crowd and scheduled around planned activities and meals, and everyone is welcome. My idea of retreat isn’t a yoga training where you practice 4 times a day. I choose these amazing locations for you to enjoy and explore fully. Classes, always optional will be once or twice a day depending on the daily schedule.

 

Todd founded and co-owns South Boston Yoga, where he leads all levels classes, advanced asana and co-directs the 200hr and 500hr Yoga teacher trainings certification programs. Todd also teaches classes at Equinox Clubs in Boston and leads retreats and workshops around the US and abroad. His classes are challenging, fun, intelligent and taught with great respect and purpose, bringing you a better awareness of your body’s options.

I have been and currently organizing amazing retreats locally and abroad for over 15yrs., including Tulum Mexico, Costa Rica, and many in the United States. 
I have practiced with some of most renowned teachers, such as Shiva Rea, Rodney Yee, and Baron Baptiste., I am an experienced Instructor of over 20 yrs.
my classes are eclectic,hatha , Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative,  keeping on the spiritually based practice of hatha yoga, for all levels of yoga at hand, able to modify whenever needed,  I am a Reiki Master, Mindful meditation sound healer . and include energy healing and Tai-Chi, Chi Gung energy into my practice .

Our Powerful Helen!

Helen Noviello has had the pleasure of sharing her love of exercise, movement and meditation for the past 40 years. She has thousands of hours of teaching experience and has lead over 75 successful yoga and meditation retreats worldwide. Helen lives her happiness in such a big way that you can not help but leave her classes, workshops, and retreats spiritually uplifted! Her passion and positive attitude naturally connect others to their own joyful potential.
 
Helen has a loving spirit and eclectic teaching style that make her classes flow magically. She always encourages her students to go inside and listen to their own expression of yoga and beautifully integrates all yoga levels into the practice making her students feel comfortable and welcome. Her approach to yoga is non-competitive, spiritual and nurturing leaving her students deeply calmed and spiritually uplifted! 
 
Helen is very excited about her retreat at La Dogna as this will be her first time doing a retreat in this region of Italy. She has led five retreats on the beautiful island of Ischia, Italy as well as many other stops in her favorite country on her many Yoga at Sea Adventures. She especially loves sharing the wonderful Italian culture she grew up in with her participants while doing yoga and meditation in some amazing parts of Italy. Her grandparents were all born in Italy and her husband, who owns the oldest Italian restaurant in Atlanta,Georgia, comes from the Amalfi Coast. Her 99 year old father always says “There are two people in the world, Italians and those that want to be Italian!”
 
Helen graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Health, Physical Education and Exercise Science. During her career, she has been the director at several work out facilities and yoga studios. She produced and starred in exercise shows for cable TV. She was also a Body Elite representative for Nike, presenting workshops to bring visibility to Nike’s apparel and shoes for ten years.
 
Helen was voted one of Atlanta’s top yoga instructors in the 2012 Yoga Edition of Atlanta’s Best Self Magazine. Her company, Yoga by Helen, was selected for the 2012 and 2013 Best of Atlanta Award in the Yoga category by the Atlanta Awards Program. Atlanta Magazine featured Helen and her yoga retreats in the Oct 2016 issue. Natural Awakenings magazine featured Yoga By Helen and her retreats in the August 2018 Yoga Issue.

Heather’s style is a creative blend of Hatha Yoga and Vinyasa Flow. Her yoga classes aim to balance mind, body and spirit and cultivate body awareness, mindfulness and self-love.

She has a degree in Educational Psychology and has been a Yoga Alliance Certified Yoga Teacher since 2005. She is the Owner of Harmony Yoga School and has taught group classes, workshops and yoga teacher trainings in the USA, Costa Rica and at retreat centers worldwide.

Heather is a mom who is passionate about healthy, natural living and loves teaching students from across the globe.

Our awesome Stephen!

 

Stephen Kirsch is an RYT-200 hour graduate of the Boston Yoga School, where he trained and later taught at some of Boston’s largest and best-known yoga studios. After moving to Portland, Maine in 2016 he established himself as a prominent figure in the southern Maine yoga scene. He is passionate about guiding his students through a practice that encourages them to listen and be present, and challenges them physically while offering them ease and release.

His classes are thoughtfully sequenced for all levels of practitioners and offer clear alignment and postural cueing. Stephen loves to read, spend time in the outdoors and hang out with his dogs.

Stephen is a passionate world traveler and has led numerous international yoga retreats, including to locations in Europe and Africa. Stephen crafts his retreats to feature a balance of yoga, cultural experiences and free time to explore and relax. Yoga classes are geared towards an all-levels crowd and are built around the other planned activities and excursions.

On retreat with Stephen everything is optional, and he welcomes you to create the experience you want to have!

 

Our amazing Anne!

 

Anne studied classical ballet and modern dance for 14 years in Berkeley, California. She earned a Ph.D. in biology at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts before taking up Yoga in 1996 to heal from an upper back injury. 

In 2003 Anne did her Iyengar-based teacher training studies in Palo Alto, California with Larry Hatlett. She then completed the Yoga Alliance 200 hour certification with Val Spies of The Lotus Pond, a Kripalu-based studio in Tampa, Florida. She founded Yoga Within in 2010.

In 2014, she completed the 500-hour certification with Val Spies. Since certification, Anne has taught more than 3,000 hours of classes and private lessons and continues her Yoga studies with Karin Stephan and other advanced Iyengar and Vinyasa yoga teachers.

Anne has taught numerous workshops in the Boston area and teaches regular workshops at The Lotus Pond in Tampa, FL.  Anne has been on the teacher training staff at The Lotus Pond since 2014 and has been a part of teacher training retreats in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina.

Anne is devoted to teaching each student with thoughtful attention and creativity. Her goal is for each person to find their way toward deeper understanding and appreciation of their own body and how to work with the Yoga poses to bring about a finely tuned mindful balance. Anne is loved by one and all for her kindness, her wonderful sense of humor, and her highly empathic nature.

David Magone:  With over 20 years teaching experience, David has received a number of accolades in the press with features in Travel + Leisure’s “25 Top Yoga Studios Around the World”, Vogue Magazine UK, the Wall Street Journal, NPR and many other publications.

In addition to teaching PranaVayu classes, workshops and trainings worldwide, David also serves as a Dharma teacher at the Harvard University Buddhist Chaplaincy. 

David regularly contributes to the Huffington Post Healthy Living section, and is a featured teacher on Gaia TV and the Comcast Cable TV Network.

Stunning Jess!

 

Jessalynn, or Jess, is an avid yoga practitioner, teacher, and student who’s incredibly passionate about being active, living a healthy lifestyle, and giving back to her community. She began her yoga practice in 2007 upon leaving college and entering the corporate world to begin her career. She found yoga to be doubly beneficial in that it was a great way to stay fit and also counter the stresses that came along with a busy work schedule. Over the years, her love of leading a healthy lifestyle grew into more of a burning passion, so Jess finally decided to quit her corporate job and teach yoga & wellness to help others realize and enjoy its many benefits.

Jess received her yoga teacher certification from Bali Yoga School while studying under two teachers from Rishikesh, India – the birthplace of yoga – and one of their students who was also trained under the Himalayan Yoga Association. Their combined knowledge and the tranquil setting of the Southeast Pacific allowed her to truly immerse herself in experiencing this authentic, Eastern approach to the practice. Jessalynn is well equipped to lead everybody from beginner to advanced, through a series of Hatha, Vinyasa, and Ashtanga flows that are fun, challenging, and adaptable to suit all levels. She is committed to providing an enriching mind-body experience while focusing on breath, alignment, and posture. Jess is also well-versed in and enjoys leading guided meditations, as breath and mindfulness are the necessary foundations to yoga and all of its asanas.

Jess’s goal is to bring yoga to our communities and help spread the camaraderie it fosters by practicing mindfulness and compassion for ourselves and our neighbors. She loves the energy, focus, and invigoration it leaves her with, but loves even more how it leaves her students feeling those same things.

In addition to her yoga outreach work, Jess is very dedicated to giving back to her local community. She partners with other like-minded businesses, professionals, individuals, and non-profit organizations to coordinate and host wellness-related events. Jessalynn has worked with Boston Mayor Marty Walsh’s office and the Boston Public Health Commission to identify and partner with a few local, non-profit organizations to benefit from her yoga and wellness events – The Engagement Center, The Woods-Mullen Womens’ Shelter, and the Gavin Foundation. By donating a portion of ticket proceeds from her on-going wellness events, she hopes to aid in the ongoing battle against Boston’s opioid addiction and homelessness crisis, an issue that is very close to her heart.

Lauren Ahola MS RD LDN 200-hour RYT

I found yoga in 2010. Coming from a background of running and vigorous exercise, I loved the physical benefits yoga brought to my life. Over the years, yoga shifted from a physical practice to more of a spiritual and emotional journey. In 2015 I completed my 200-hour teaching training at Yoga Six in San Diego, CA. Returning to Boston in 2018, I completed an extensions teaching training course at Core Power Yoga. I believe yoga is a constant journey that helps us to become better on and off the mat. I hope to leave you feeling physically challenged and emotionally inspired. 

As a Registered Dietitian since 2012, I am so happy to be able share my knowledge of nutrition and the importance of the mind/body connection, to promote optimal health, with all of my students. I established my private practice, LEAN (Lauren E. Ahola Nutrition & Yoga), in 2018. I specialize in creating personalized nutrition plans through nutrition education, lifestyle changes, and mindfulness techniques. My passion is to help women stop dieting and start living

 

 

 

Lauren Folan- 500 hour RYT, Meditation Teacher

I was first introduced to yoga in 2010, when I took my first class ever and it was not love at first sight! It took about 10 classes for me to start really getting into it. Monthly turned into weekly, which turned into daily. Yoga was the peace and serenity I needed, but could not find in corporate America. In 2013, I decided to put the financial world behind me and pursue a career in what I was passionate about – teaching. Not only did I go back to school for teaching mathematics, but also enrolled in Infinite Yoga’s 200 hour training program in San Diego. 


My passion for this practice has only grown over the years, I have done countless training and workshops and most recently completed my 500 RYT in Rishikesh, India this past summer. 


I cant even begin to explain how much gratitude I have for this practice, but for those of you who know me know I was very different before it came into my life. I am thankful for the strength and confidence it has helped me gain, the patience and understanding it has helped create mentally, the clarity and peace it has brought into my life. I am thankful for it being the reason to help me truly love who I am physically and mentally, because there was a time where I didn’t love any part of myself. I love that I have never felt stronger or more powerful in my life and everyday with practice that grows! This practice is truly life changing if you give it the college try. It can take some time to get into, but give it a shot. 

I am passionate about sharing my love of yoga and teaching with an authentic and fun approach. I believe that yoga is not just about the physical aspect – it is about becoming stronger mentally and emotionally as well. When you are having a good day, come to your mat. When you are having a bad day, ESPECIALLY come to your mat. I am extremely dedicated to creating a demanding, but nurturing and safe environment for students, that supports inward focus and exploration of the body, mind, and spirit. Nicole Grant

I am a ‘householder’ yoga practitioner, whose dharma is, first and foremost, to be a mother and guide to my two children (or rather, my children have served as my guides). Inspired by Beryl Bender Birch’s first book, Power Yoga (1995), I pursued the study of Astanga Yoga with Beryl, and later with Nancy Gilgoff. I reneged on my intention to pursue medicine when I became pregnant with my first child. So, I started out primarily as an impassioned self-taught yogi, then studied for over a decade under the tutelage of Zoe Stewart (Ma.), herself a devoted student of B.K.S. Iyengar.  I co-founded a small, community yoga studio in 2001 after the birth of my second child, with the intention of being a more accountable parent. Navigating changing times in general, and shifting tides in the world and industry that yoga has become, I have learned many lessons in determination, perseverance, patience, humility and resilience travelling this remarkable path of yoga. 

Through my teaching of yoga I extend to you my own dynamic expression of therapeutic vinyasa krama yoga (a methodology based in wise postural sequencing) with the intention of cultivating awareness of, opening to, and shifting within us our patterns of physical, emotional and karmic resistances with gentleness and compassion. From my personal practice, I continue to cultivate this art of self-mastery and gain insights into the incredible intelligence that is yoga; my students have demonstrated what dedication to a practice is and can be, and for that I am both infinitely grateful and continuously inspired; and from their example, I have become fearless in my teaching; from life, I have learned to count my many blessings and to not take a single person or experience for granted.

My mission now is to extend these teachings as action in all our relationships, in the workplace and in life.

 

 

 

Lena El-Chehabi

I started out over 20 years ago as a group fitness instructor. A cancer diagnosis brought me to my knees and to my yoga mat. Yoga helped to ground me during the recovery process. It made me feel strong both physically and mentally. Years later, I am thrilled to say that I am cancer free! My classes focus on proper body alignment and safe transitions, but I also like to play– my yoga mat is my playground. It is a place to explore. In yoga you move into and out of postures letting the breath be your guide. Does it matter what the pose looks like? Not really… I want to help students find their inner strength and stability. That’s what drew me to yoga in the first place.

First trained to teach yoga through YogaFit, Lena El-Chehabi completed her 200-Hour RYT Training (Spiritual Path Yoga Program of Self-Mastery) with Nicole Grant and Maureen Miller (Yoga Mandala/Yoga NH). She completed her Yin Yoga Foundations Training with Josh Summers and her Reiki Master Degree with Nicole Grant (Usui Shiki Ryoho Certified). Lena continues to deepen her yoga studies with many wonderful teachers including Nicole Grant (chakra-inspired vinyasa flow) and Janet Stone (vinyasa flow and devotion). She enjoys taking classes and teaching classes that are fun, playful, and light-hearted, believing that mindfulness is important, and a good sense of humor goes a long way.
